38. Salok Kabeer Ji Ke – Ang 1364 Dhan Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

(Kabeer, kill only that, which, when killed, shall bring peace.
Everyone shall call you good, very good, and no one shall think you are bad.)
If our near dear gets killed in accident we all go into state of shock. The mental peace is lost. We drown in the sadness and happiness seems to elude us. So, what kind of killing brings peace to mind? How killing can be peaceful? After all killing has been identified as ‘Sullied Action’ by all greats. Well, Devotee Kabeer Ji has asked to kill ‘The Mind’ which will eventually shatter the Ego. Killing mind, but does it not mean killing desire. How killing my desire will bring me peace. I am free individual and I have rights to execute my desires. How can I ever strangle my desires? It will like hurt like some one has trampled me beneath its feet. Well, if this is experience of Kabeer Ji then it has to be correct. If you kill desire and feel you are hurt, then you are not free. You are tied to chains of attachments. It is just an illusion that by following your heart you are executing free will. As human our goal is to be harmonious with Lord’s Will. And if we try to interfere in that will by following our heart we just create cacophony. And that creates unwanted waves which gives the feeling of being hurt. Once an individual manages to kill mind the Ego will vanish and then no attachments will hurt that individual. In that scenario you will be balanced, will have intuitive wisdom, ability to take correct decisions beneficial to all. Even the appreciation will not bloat you with ego. And such state of mind will ensure that every entity of universe will call you good, still you will be unperturbed since you have killed your mind and embraced the will of One Formless God.
