96. Sikh: Has Meaning Changed in Digital Era? – Part 6

And then came the moment which added strength to ‘The Plant’, The Martyrdom of Paatshahi 5. He was ‘The Epitome’ of peace as He did not utter a single word of aggression. He, Who, was all powerful did not curse the Imperial Regime for torturing Him to physical death without any reason or in mortal words, without any fault. Well, Who has compiled Dhan Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Who has bestowed blessings by constructing Shri Harmandir Sahib Ji, Who took care of every soul longing to meet ‘The Prabh of Baba Nanak’ as Nanak The Fifth, can ever be at fault? One Who surrendered to His Lord and His Guru, Who has vanquished the evil residing in human, how such A Purity can ever be at fault? Sheer ignorance, and ignorant was the emperor, a drunkard who lost sense of righteousness, gave order for such heinous act. And still The True Guru showed how to be at calm at even worst phase of life by blessing everyone with following words:
ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਾਂਗੈ ॥੨॥੪੨॥੯੩॥*
(Your actions seem so sweet to me. Nanak begs for the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.)
The Martyrdom of Dhan Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji was a signal that oppression by Imperial Regime would rise and it would soon peak up in years to come. The quality of life would fall and oppression could now only be tackled with ‘Shakti – The Strength’, both Spiritual and Physical. And thus, before leaving for Lahore ‘Pancham Pita – The Fifth Father’ established Dhan Shri Guru Hargobind Ji as Nanak The Sikh and handed over the responsibility of feeding and nurturing ‘The Plant’ with His Spiritual and Physical strength.
