112. Kalyug Mein ‘Keertan’ Pardhana – 2

(Human Body is musical Instrument)

We read and hear that ‘Baba Nanak’ sang ‘Keertan’. ‘He’ sang like no one. And only ‘Keertan’ led ‘Him’ to meet ‘His Prabh – The One Formless True Eternal Lord’. ‘He’ sang and inspired generations for same. ‘His’ singing emancipated uncountable creatures and entities which we mortal can never comprehend. But why singing ‘Keertan’? In part 1, I tried explaining same as pet my limited abilities. And one more reason comes to mind. My sincere apologies ‘Datar Pita’ that I am trying to be rational as ‘Your’ path is of Surrender, Devotion and requires giving up Intellect.

It is important to understand the basic type of musical instrument before we proceed with discussion. The reason we need to know them since Human Body is all musical instrument as one. Here are the classifications:

  • Wood Wind: They produce sound when wind is blown through them like flute.
  • String: They produce sound when strings are struck like guitar.
  • Percussion: They produce sound when beater strikes them like Table, Drum.

We just have to remember three things: Air, Strings, Strike. Now let us compare with human body.

When human body comes out of womb it needs air to survive. And the process is know as birth of child. In other words ‘Air is Blown’ which makes him laugh, cry and speak. The ‘Air’ gives him realization of being alive. This ‘Air’ which goes through different parts of his physical and spiritual body and makes him to realize many hidden aspects of him. Human who is not breathing, ‘Air’ is not following through him, is referred as corpse. ‘Air’ is key to the knowledge, the realization and that’s why Paatshahi 2 called is as ‘Guru’ in following words:

ਪਵਣੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਧਰਤਿ ਮਹਤੁ ॥*
(Air is the Guru, Water is the Father, and Earth is the Great Mother of all.)

So, human body is like flute ‘The One Formless True Eternal Lord’ blows the air and it resonates.

When human consciousness or body is struck by sorrows or happiness it produces sound. If sorrow strikes one can hear sound of cries in form of distress, pain or dejection. If happiness strikes one can hear ecstasy. So, human body is like Drum when ‘The One Formless True Eternal Lord’ strikes it with sorrow or happiness it resonates.

Humans are made of strings, yes strings of neurons, tissues and nerve. Science says they communicate each other via electrical signals. And these signals resonate with some frequency. If frequency is associated then sound has to be there. Since these frequencies are beyond human ear’s comprehension we don’t hear them. Also, we generally believe that we are attached to ‘The One Formless True Eternal Lord’ via ‘String of Love’. And ‘Gurbaani’ confirms it in following words:

ਸਭ ਪਰੋਈ ਇਕਤੁ ਧਾਗੈ ॥**
(Everything is strung upon the One String of the Lord.)

ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਬੂਡੀ ਪਵਨੁ ਝੁਲਾਵੈ ਡੋਰਿ ਰਹੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੩॥***
(The drowning person is blown around in the ten directions by the wind, but I hold tight to the string of the Lord’s Love.)

And yes if there is string it should produce sound when plucked and this is described by following words of Devotee Kabeer Ji:

ਥਿਰੁ ਭਈ ਤੰਤੀ ਤੂਟਸਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਨਹਦ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਬਾਜੀ ॥੩॥****
(The string has become steady, and it does not break; this guitar vibrates with the unstruck melody.)

So, human mind is attached to string of ‘Lord’s Love’. And once attached human mind and body behaves as musical instrument made of ‘Strings’.

Now the question is if human body/mind are like musical instrument how ‘Keertan’ takes precedence over every path in ‘Kalyug – The Black Age’. This will be covered in upcoming parts… TO BE CONTINUED
