110. Thoughts on International Women’s Day

This blog is inspired from following thoughts prevalent in Indian Culture.

Dhan Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਮੰਦਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿਤੁ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਰਾਜਾਨ ॥”

(So why call her bad? From her, kings are born.)

Quote from Vedas

“यत्र नार्यस्तु पूज्यन्ते रमन्ते तत्र देवताः|”

(Gods live where woman is worshiped).

Swami Vivekanand

“It is very difficult to understand why in this country [India] so much difference is made between men and women, whereas the Vedanta declares that one and the same conscious SELF is present in all beings. You always criticize the women, but say what have you done for their uplift? Writing down Smritis etc., and binding them by hard rules, the men have turned the women into manufacturing machines! If you do not raise the women, who are living embodiment of the Divine Mother, don’t think that you have any other way to rise.”

Thus, making woman feel special on woman’s day is hypocrisy. It is like saying all other 364 days belong to man. I am surprised even leading woman leaders fall for such trap. Womanhood is the reason, blessing by nature, we all exist. And celebrating it for just one day huh!!!
Will celebrating it change the plight of woman? Yes at superficial level. Till the mindset is not changed the basic discrimination will never change. It is highly unfortunate that in India we celebrate woman on specific day where woman deity is worshiped, where Great Masters hold her in The Highest Esteem.
No struggle is complete without Woman counterpart. No creation is possible without female form else what is the need of it. If ‘The Formless One’ has decided to manifest in Female form then there has to be something special about it.
Female and male has to become one for new generation. So both are equal. A lady can give birth and nature support it ask male form and he will give up. Well who changed the thought process which forced woman on back end. Let us think of killing that thought every day and not on specific day.
Wishing All The Wonderful Ladies Out There Happy International Women’s Day!
I pray to ‘Almighty’ we keep bringing smile on your faces as you all have vanquished yourself to bring peace, harmony, affection and love in our lives!!!
